FSA’s Senior Nutrition Program has been the leader of distributing caring, quality, and nutritious meals to the Inland Empire since the mid-1990’s, and when COVID-19 started impacting our communities it was no surprise that many reached out to FSA’s Senior Nutrition Program and asked “What can we do to help you do what you do at a larger scale?”
Thanks to SoCalGas Fueling Our Community Partnreship with FSA, we have been able to continue providing this essential care to our community seniors, and help support our local communities. Many local government officials, departments, and members of congress who come from the Inland Empire and are aware of the impact COVID-19 would have in our communities have provided their continued support of FSA’s community efforts to keep our communities strong.
Today in Redlands our hearts were filled with so much gratitude as many of our community partners came out to help FSA’s Senior Nutrition Team distribute meals to our community’s seniors. During this unprecedented community crisis, this show of solidarity and support reminds us what the Inland Empire is all about.
Former Mayor of Redlands and U.S. Representative of California’s 31st Congressional District, Congressman Pete Aguilar got some hands on training from Redlands Community Center Employees and FSA’s Senior Nutrition Team on the Curbside Meal Distribution before distributing meals to our community seniors. Congressman Aguilar, also heard feedback of the impact of COVID-19 in the community, the various efforts, and the community unity from FSA Board Member Chris Mardis, SoCalGas Kristine Scott, and Redlands Community Members.
The greatest highlight of today’s meal distribution in Redlands is this photo, which we hope inspires everyone reading this article, that great things can be accomplished when we all come together, and work together for the betterment of our community. This is what #FSAStrong is all about, making today great through community strength, as an example for a better tomorrow.
